When you come to us for a dental exam, we will work together to diagnose and eliminate the cause of your health issues and help you become your healthiest you.
At Geans Clinic, our attention is entirely focused on one aspect of care: you. We work in the capacity of advisors to help you find the best way to achieve your health goals by improving your oral health. We are as concerned for your well-being as you are, so every visit and consultation begins with getting to know you and your health better. We will lend a sympathetic ear to your health and lifestyle concerns and offer evidence-based treatments. This information will help us understand your needs better and go a long way in providing you with deservedly personal care.
In order for us to be able to take optimum care of your oral health, it is also important for us to understand all other aspects of your health. Your mouth, after all, is the gatekeeper of what goes into the rest of your body; if it harbours any infections, the disease-causing bacteria will travel to a multitude of locations where they can affect and even cause or worsen other diseases.
Your medical history can provide us with invaluable information on your prior health conditions and help us arrive at a clear diagnosis. That’s why we are thorough and precise about collecting information on your health, lifestyle and dental history.
Each examination will include a thorough examination of your face from outside and in. We can check those hard to see places and areas where common problems can hide and go amiss. We follow a strategic examination of your face, neck and inside your mouth from the back of your mouth to under your tongue to check for ulcers, discoloured patches and changes in normal tissues.
At Geans Clinic, the value the importance of good gum health as the foundation to long lasting healthy dentition. Your gums will be checked carefully for swelling, inflammation and measurments are used to pick up any signs of advancing gum disease. From as young as age 12, early signs of advanced gm disease can be found in a susceptible patient, so this screen is an invaulable tool to help us diagnose and treat problems early.
We use digital intra-oral X-rays and are included in your check up as standard if we need to take them. Afterall, a full examination is incomplete if we cannot properly assess areas where dental disease, such as decay and gum disease can start. Digital x-rays allow us to see great detail and mean a much lower dose to you.
We also have the benefit of an onsite, OPT and CBCT scanner which allows to see a great amount of detail such as impacted or buried teeth, jaw and sinus issues and other pathology or crucial structures of your teeth and jaw that help us diagnose and plan dental treatments.
Our iTero intraoral scanner allows our dentists to clearly explain treatment options and demonstrate to you your oral health status. By being able to visualise your mouth on screen, our patients can better understand their dental needs and become more engaged in their treatment plans. Our patient’s love that our scanner can help monitor dental issues like tooth wear, deterioration of fillings and gum recession. Our scanner can also help track tooth movement during orthodontic treatment help plan advance treatments such as smile design and orthodontics to allow you to see a before and after before we even start treatment.
Following your consultation, you will be provided with a written estimate of costs for treatment. This is based on the materials or products to be used, and complexity of the procedure. You will always be given clear transparent costs and there will never be any hidden costs or surprise bills!
Everyone on our team, from our practice manager to our hygienists, works towards making your visit comfortable, caring and personal.
