Braces are a common and highly effective way to straighten teeth and correct bite issues in children and teens.
Not only will straight teeth build confidence and positive self-image early in life, braces in children and teeth straighten crooked or crowded teeth, close gaps between teeth, correct overbites, underbites, and crossbites, improve speech, chewing, and jaw alignment and reduce the risk of tooth wear, injury, and gum problems long term.
At Geans Clinic, our consultant orthodontist, Dr Tsang is high experienced in a variety of brace systems we can offer to children and teens. Depending on the case specifics, we offer:
Thank you to our patients for allowing us to share their amazing outcomes at Geans Clinic.
At Geans Clinic, our dentists will check your child’s bite as soon as all their baby teeth as through as this can give an indication of early issues that may need addressing early on. We will consider any issues and recommend an orthodontic assessment from age 7, even if full treatment isn’t needed yet. Early evaluation allows our orthodontist to monitor jaw and tooth development, plan for intervention early if needed (e.g., expanders, habit breakers), and plan the most efficient time for braces—usually around ages 11–14 when most adult teeth have come through.
At Geans Clinic, Dr Tsang will advise on a case by case basis, and usually treatment can take between 12–24 months, depending on the case. Regular check-ups are required for adjustments and progress tracking. After treatment, retainers must be worn to maintain results.
If diet and oral hygiene are not carefully considered during brace treatment, the treatment could be stopped early to prevent damage to teeth and gums. Of not properly maintained, teeth can become stained permanently, and in severe cases, gum disease can start or decay in teeth. You can help your child by ensuing they are brushing carefully around brackets and wires, using floss daily (special tools like floss threaders help). Our hygienists can help teach your children how to use these adjuncts if they struggle and can help keep the teeth extra clean around the brackets and attachments.
Avoid sticky, hard, or sugary foods and ensure to attend all scheduled appointments to stay on track.
Following your consultation, you will be provided with a written estimate of costs for treatment. This is based on the materials or products to be used, and complexity of the procedure. You will always be given clear transparent costs and there will never be any hidden costs or surprise bills!
