About this treatment

Aligners are thin clear flexible plastic ‘mouthguards’ which fit closely over the teeth. A series of aligners is used to move the teeth incrementally according to a treatment plan developed by our orthodontist.

Aligner appliances are ideally suited to those whose life-style or work commitments make it difficult for them to wear more visible conventional fixed appliances.

As with any other form of orthodontics, a proper orthodontic assessment, diagnosis and treatment plan is essential to successful aligner treatment. An accurate digital scan of the mouth is used to create the customised aligners. Each appliance moves the teeth a small distance towards the intended position before moving on to the next in the series until the final result is achieved. Aligners need to be worn full-time, day and night except for meal times.

What are the benefits of clear aligners?

Virtually invisible: Unlike traditional braces, clear aligners don’t use wires or brackets and are barely noticeable. They are thin, transparent and custom-made to fit your mouth.

How much is clear aligner treatment?

The cost of treatment varies for each case, depending on the complexity of your case and the type of Invisalign aligners you need.

At Geans Clinic, we believe in transparent pricing, so our Orthodontist will always explain any costs and treatment proposals in full before treatment. Payment options are available to spread the cost of treatment, speak to our Practice Manager to learn more.

What Clear Aligner systems do you use?

At Geans Clinic we are fortunate to have Dr Tsang, our consultant orthodontist who brings her years of experience to you offering more than one clear aligner system to our practice. This means you have so many choices and options based on your bespoke needs. We use the global leading market brands; Invisalign and Angel Aligners.

How does clear aligner treatment straighten my teeth?

Both Invisalign and Angel Aligners follow a similar treatment protocol:

Step 1

Your consultation: Book a consultation with Dr Tsang. She’ll examine your smile, discuss your needs and recommend brace or aligner options. She uses an intraoral scanner, allowing you to preview the potential results.

Step 2

Making your aligners: A series of clear and removable aligners are custom-made to fit your mouth.

Step 3

Receive your aligners: Dr Tsang will ensure your aligners are comfortable and fit well. Dr Tsang will let you know what to expect throughout treatment and can answer any questions.

Step 4

Wear your aligners: You’ll need to wear each set of aligners for 20-22 hours a day. You can remove them to eat, drink, brush and floss. Every four-six weeks, Dr Tsang will check your treatment is progressing as planned.

Step 5

Finish your treatment: Your treatment ends when you’ve worn each set of aligners. To maintain your straighter smile, you’ll need to wear a retainer every night to maintain your straight smile.

Jane, the hygienist, was absolutely fantastic – gentle, thorough, and incredibly friendly. Honestly, the best hygienist I've ever had.
